    I hate styled exhausts.

    In fact you can see the real exhaust pipes if you look through them.

    I tend to agree.

    This 7 series seems - yet again - doomed to also ran status beside the S class, even considering all of the positive press I have read about it. Concerning style, it isn't that the exterior styling is conservative that is bad; it is that BMW made this look more like a refresh than a new generation.

    The back seat looks like a nice place to be.

    In this segment the S-Class rules supreme, the 7 Series being a distant second and Audi simply struggling with the A8.

    Here badge and pedigree matter.

    Understandably so. Also, the S Class is still best (without badge and tradition) at being what the rest of this class attempts to embody.

    The XJ is a fun outsider pick. Key word: outsider.
