    Slr 722 Gtr

    Hello Ladies and Gents,

I found this on a website. New pics of a GT racing version of SLR McLaren 722. The SLR 722 GTR.

    What do you think?

    Link: SLR 722 GTR - Supercars.net

Can some one find Hi-res pics of this GT racing car version.

    Thnx,
    EL Nino

Looks like there's going to have to be one in 1/24 scale too.

    Good afternoon to you.

Could this be a farewell model for the SLR?

Looks good and all but I'd be surprised if they even touched the engine.

They didn't, the specs are given in one of the picture, it develops 650 PS, just like the 'regular' 722.

Maybe this is Mercedes's response to Ferrari FXX. Just some track fun for rich people.

    Exactly.

I got some infos from a good friend at AMG (so I'm the one Basman quoted in supercars.net) and he told me that it is an official car. You have to bring in your own SLR or they will buy one from the used car market and then the car will be updated to GTR spec. There won't be any racing series for it, if not the SLR Club would bring in one with the owners. There will be as much GTRs as there are customers for it. It won't be road-legal, if you don't know a nice guy in the license agency

Name one modern GT racer with a manual gearbox.
I'm dropping out to create a company that starts with motorcycles, then cars, and forty years later signs a legendary Brazilian driver who has a public and expensive feud with his French teammate.

DB9, Corvette, 575LM (and the 599) all come with manual gearboxes on the road cars, and the racers run manual gearboxes.

Um, how about the whole FIA GT? This car, just like the road car, shifts for itself. That can be an incredible disadvantage on a race course.

The engine is not legal for GT1, so it will be a track-day car only. The FIA GT talk ridiculous speculation.
If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.
