Aside from basic information it seems every media outlet covering this car spends most copy deriding it's supposed designer, Muammar Gaddafi. It's supposed to be a "safety car" but it's not clear what new features it has to make it safer. Naturally, grand pronouncements such as the one below are fresh fish for western media outlets to gut. The car itself looks different, anyway.

The African cars I know are Volskwagen models porduced in South Africa, like the Citigolf and the CitiSport version. They were very popular there, I don't know if they were sold worldwide. The GSM closed in the 60s, I think, so those cars are classics now... Loved the photos!

They were. They are basically the Mk I Golf.

There are no real African cars because most of the African people are most likely going to be solely focused on meeting the first level of needs as described by Abraham Maslow in his Hierarchy of Needs (Physiological needs). A hungry man could not logically be expected to think about designing a powerful car, right?

    !

Whilst your acceptance of the "African" stereotype is touching, the past 5 pages include some very powerful cars and a large percentage of Africans are not hungry.

I didn't say Africans are hungry. The hunger comment was just a figure of speech. Unfortunately, the vast majority of Africa are generally caught somehwere on the lowest rung of Maslow's Need Theory (physiological needs). And if the African cars you mentioned really exist, how come they don't seem to be evident or seen in countries like Nigeria and Ghana, where european made cars flood the landscape??????

In a word: cost. Nigeria, Ghana and the rest of Africa is flooded with Japanese cars which are cheaper than any locally made effort. Thus most of the cars produced in Africa are specialist or low production models.

    Hi,

I am the owner of one of the EBM Tazio roadsters. It has the original 5.7ltr V8. It is not complete and has been a sideline project of mine. There are some miner modifications done to the bodywork.

I am looking for more information and serious buyers for the car.

I am based in Cape Town, South Africa and my email address is panebianco.m(AT)gmail.com.

    Kind regards

I believe my father's 2006 Ford Focus CL was made in South Africa. I think a few car models are manufactured in this particular country.
