    Great looking DB9... Or not.

Opel Calibra Transformed into an Aston Martin DB9 - Carscoop

A team of tuners, allegedly from Thailand, chose to sacrifice a 1990s Opel Calibra coupe to create this Aston Martin DB9 replica. We don't have any details on the project, but judging by the photos, we gather that it could fool an untrained eye.

I appologise for the lack of information, just thought it was actually very impressive.

Seems like a lot of effort (though nicely done) for a Calibra. It's in Thailand though, and lousy as traffic can be, they love their cars. In Bangkok back in the late '90s, we saw dozens of interesting if sometimes questionable customs. A Lada that had been festooned with BMW M3 grille and trim was simply craptastic.

The wheel size and the rear lights are all wacky, so they should be good clues to spot an impostor.

Looks pretty well done, but again, why put so much effort into an Opel Calibra?

It certainly won't sound anywhere like an Aston Martin and the interior is going to be all wacky.

This. But it's still cooler than an opel. Just not as cool as the real Aston.

Why do they like copying and infringing on intellectual property in Asia? Why is Aston martin not suing the pants off these guys? Does aston martin need automotive Viagra to get busy with these automotive scoundrels?

probably because they don't care? it's not like this is any threat to their business.

It's like a NokLa phone or an ePod.

You cut one head off and 13 grow in it's place.

And the informed consumer can tell the difference fairly quickly.

It's not worth it for Aston Martin, and it's not like they're mass producing it anyway, like some Chinese companies are doing with some other car maker's cars.

It's actually far better than I had expected when I read the thread title.
