I'd choose Robby Gordon. He races in different leages, nascar, indy 500, baja, and a few others.

you have so many different types of driver from formula 1 to rally driving, formula one drivers i think there skills are slightly limited, as when they're driving for them the most important thing is the racing line in cars that are impecable.

rally drivers skills are more broard as they need the racing line but as they race on varied surfaces they are better, mc rea now does le mans, come on thats way different from going roand country lanes and driving across the deserts in the dakar rally.

sorry he might not have been some driver thats completely dominated hes driving category but hes done well and hes very talented, as hes one of very few that have done such antics.
he might not be the best but for me hes a very good all rounder

Going back a few years, i reckon it wouldve taken (sir) Jack Brabham alot of skill and guts to win 3 F1 titles in cars he wouldve practically made himself. Current drivers its too hard to tell though, but certainly the likes of Raikkonen, Schumacher, Loeb, Solberg, Ambrose, Skaife.....depends on what you watch, i guess you'll sprout out different names. Ontop of that, theres plenty of drivers with the talent, and only now have the machinery to try and prove their worth like Alonso, Button, Atkinson, some local drivers here like Dumbrell, Winterbottom, Youlden, Andrew Jones etc

Out of the current crop....hard to tell. But past drivers, Juan Manuel Fangio. This guy started winning F1 World Titles in his 40s!!!

which has about 80 entries now on the subtleties of road driving.

I like racing as much as the next guy (esp. LeMans) but do not defer my abilities in a car to race drivers.

their cars made corners on skill & high speed knowledge alone

modern F1 are glued to the road

although the speeds are lower , its arguable that rally driving demands higher mental focus than tarmac circuit racing

remember that speed is relative . you adapt mentally to the speeds your constantly accessing

A lot has changed from 2005 to today and it's a huge pity that Kimi was never unable to unlock his full potential in F1. It's as if there was always something missing which prevented him from trashing everyone just as often as he should have.

I don't think it's very easy to compare drivers of different disciplines together.

You can compare each driver's relative dominance in their sport however and if you did, based sheerly on results at top level motorsport, Sebastien Loeb and Jimmy Johnson come to mind as being hot shit.

alternatively, he scared off all the others......with almost zero sportscar experience he was just as fast in the Pescarolo at LeMans a couple of years ago. (just mentioning this as WRC is about the lowest form of motorsport in your eyes)

A-lot has changed. It was very good with the likes of Markko Martin and Michael Park, (Sorry if i spelt name wrong) Mcrae, Solberg, Marcus Gronholm, Toni Gardemeister and loeb all competing, now its kinda bleh
