    Volvo V70 R (2nd gen) 2003-2007

And with all my first gen. V70R pictures posted its time to post some second generation V70R pictures.

This car delivers 300 bhp from its 5 cylinder 2.5 liter engine, or thats what Volvo claims.

Exactly. That '300bhp' doesnt propell it to 60 any quicker than a 265 though.....Volvo have lost it.

I don't really get the marketing strategy behind selling it as FWD also, when Volvo sold it as the top of the range model like you said. With 240 HP on board (if I'm correct), I would definitely go for the AWD version in that case.

Explain that to Saab and the Viggen...

About the strategy, I'm just as confused as you are.
But when it comes to choosing between the FWD or AWD, i'm going for the fwd.

Because the FWD is faster in a straight line, and less expensive when it comes down to repairs. (and that is a weak point for the first gen AWD system).

I would have thought that the AWD would be quicker, also in a straight line, because it should provide more traction during acceleration. However added weight of the AWD system (did not check on that but suppose that´s the same with all cars) could also destroy my theory. And let´s not forget that you have done your ´homework´ on this, as you are the (Volvo) expert here !
    About repairs, yes, certainly true.

I'm no Volvo expert but the FWD Volvo should also get better mileage than the AWD, heavier version.

I'm no expert just a maniac But the car losses some hp because of the added weight and drive train loss to the awd

Not necessarily. We drove a front wheel drive Volvo S80 with studded tyres while being there and traction was fine.

Good tires should get you through most of the stuff.
