    Biggest full moon of 2009

Anybody out there taking photos? I gave it a try but works out that is way more complicated than I thought. I'm using a Rebel XSi with stock lens (18-55mm) and a tripod, any tips on the settings / mode that I should be using?

that should explain why my dog is more irritated than usual, barking to the nothing continuously
I already tried to take pics of the moon with poor results, so I'll pass even this time.
two years ago during summer, exactly the night of the full moon, a black out occurred, I rushed outside (parents' house is in the countryside), and the view was simply amazing, the full landscape lightened only by the soft light of the moon, awesome.

It's currently snowing here so no moon.
Experiment with shutter speeds and use the smallest numerical aperture possible. Work your way up through the shutter speeds and you'll find one that works.

    Mine are worse.
It's really pretty outside, the pics don't do it justice.
EDIT: I don't know what I did to get rid of the halo in the third pic. Any ideas? No post-processing, these are just the way they were in the camera.

I found this site, it has some good info on astrophotography.

Hellcat, thats from your shutter speed.
The exif data shows that the one without the halo was 1/125 sec while the others were 1/4 and 1/2 sec. Also there were different focal lengths on the shots.

Nope. It's not even my camera really, it's my mom's so it has everything automated so she can just take pictures and not worry about settings. I've tried to chnage settings on it, but it just refuses.
