    Mallett V8 Solstice

All the horsepower of the Corvette slammed into the Pontiac Solstice - the 400hp GM LS2 engine is an awesome addition to this super slick roadster. Mallett Cars has engineered it as a complete package. Extensive track and street testing has been done to assure that this car handles better than stock on either a Sunday drive or on a road course. The cars are complete from front to back using Genuine and Official Licensed Products of GM with the stock OEM catalytic converters in place to assure state emission compliances. And only Mallett Cars will back this kind of performance with a 2-year, 24,000 mile warranty.

Only 100 cars will be built, with a base price of $18,000 for the conversion.

    The standard package includes:

    • 400 HP V8 LS2 Engine - Rated at 400 HP @ 6,000 RPM and 400 LB-FT @ 4,400 RPM
    • LS2 Clutch, Pressure Plate, and Flywheel
    • Custom Modified Lowered Shocks
    • New Springs
    • Control Arm (A-Arm) Bushings
    • Corsa Stainless Muffler
    • World famous Mallett body graphics
    • Mallett graphics embroidered on seat headrests
    • Show Car Detailing
    • Mallett serial number plaque
    • 2-year 24,000 mile warranty
I only have 3 high-res images of it so far, so If anybody has anymore please post them. I just thought I'd get the ball rolling.

Should have been a V6 from the outset.
Then they would have cleaned up.

    V8 nice idea.

yay! When I first saw the Solstice concept...I thought it had no chance of production. The I found it had a 4cyl to take on the MX-5...I thought it had a V8, it was a let down.
I was wrong twice! almost...kinda...anyway thank **** it has a V8 now, i want one. I'll bet it goes bloody fast.

    And that's my story...

the big complaint for the soldtice has been that it is severely underpowered (no suprise fomr a gm 4cyl) but this shoudl alleviate the problem

The LS2 engine is quite lightweight, therefore "noisheavy" handling isn't present. The original Ecotec 4-cylinder it replaces weighs 320lbs, and the LS2 is under 400lbs. It's said to handle better than stock..plus, all that power

The 6-speed Tremac gearbox they are working to put in should be a great addition.

GM has also anounced a powered-up version of the Solstice to come sometime in the near future. I guess a "GT".

Let me preface the following comment by saying that i think stuffing BIG engines in ANYTHING is a really terrific idea, and i love the idea of a V8 solstice.

However, the sports car experience the Solstice is supposed to provide is that of balance. The 177HP Ecotec does fine at powering the little Poncho around (0-60 in 7s, comparable to the main compeditor MX-5), and a 240-HP version is supposedly in the pipe direct from GM. The 4-cylinder is not underpowered...it's a good fit.

In a recent Top Gear magazine the ride and handling of the Solstice was slated to the point where I thought GM might have produced something like the DB7 - All talk and no trousers.

I've not really read much about it since then and of course, we don't see them in the UK...has anyone else read or seen different?
