2010 24 Hours of Le Mans (June 12-13)

With the addition of one more pit-box, the race looks set to have 56 starters. One of the support races is dedicated to the Group C era, which will warm up the crowd nicely. We will be at the French track again for some exclusive coverage in the build-up to and after the big race.

Thought the RML car had the Acura/HPD 3.4 V8 in it, not the AER 2.0T Rover K-series four banger in it. Who ever published that list needs to check that out, as HPD stands for Honda Perfromance Development, which is the NA arm of Honda Racing that builds the IRL Indy Car engines and the Acura/HPD LMP engines.

Doubt it was a mistake from here, but did the ACO make this list?
Power to me is having the ability to make a change in a positive way. Don't dream it, be it.

The HPD engine is mentioned for RML, and Honda insists that they are being called HPD, and HPD only, as they don't want to be openly associated with this class of racing. The users of the engine have signed a contract that they will not show the engine openly to public and press. That however did not stop me from shooting the Strakka engine, when the car was in the box, with the engine cover off and nobody around.

Why would Honda not want to be associated with this class of racing?

Is it possible to buy grandstand tickets at the track during a racing day? I mean, would there be any yet, does anyone know?

honda is going for clean power these days. Although the name is fully shown on Indy cars.

And developing really effecient engines (which run on E85) for racing doesn't help that pursuit?

ah yes, those methanol thingies....discussions about the environmental friendliness of E85 are still ongoing, large pieces of agricultural soil is needed to produce fuel.....

There are usually guys selling, yes. No guarantees though.

However, Le Mans is a 24h race and you get much more enjoyment of the race AND the spectacle by walking to all the various locations.

Before the start, EVERYONE can walk the pit lane.

After the start, the stands opposite the grandstand give as good a view ... and with decent lens on camera or binoculors the opportunity to look straight IN to the pit garages.

During the race, busses run between the main spectator points - like Porsche Curves , Arnage, Tertre Rouge and also, you can walk the track with the exceptions of the long straights - even their with a bit of "ingenuity" you can get to good less well known spots.

So, before shelling out for a grandstand seat you'll likely only use for the first and last 30 mins then consider Race Tours - Where to watch at Le Mans to see how to enjoy it.
