    UCP Supercar Design brief

Discussed with Shawn the many Qs I've been raisng and here is the definitive design brief from our own "Chris bangle"

I had the idea that this car was going to be a one-off.

It's not for other people to have, it's the UCP supercar

Around 400hp-480hp as reliably as possible (no Ferrari maintainance - make it as much like an NSX as possible in this regard).

I'm talking around 160,000kms before a rebuild is necessary.

    Somewhere between 800kg and 1050kg.

The all-fibreglass body shell should help massively with this.

I was thinking that it could probably be based off of an Ultima chassis - this is where most of the remaining funds will probably go for.

The interior and fiddly bits should be done after the main stuff is complete, but try to have money remaining for a relatively nice amount of comfort for a supercar. Nothing spectacular, and absoultely nothing tacky! - ie. No ricey monster tach

as far as making a one-off body, here is a link to a guy who is in the process of building his own track-day car with a CAD designed and machined body plug. He doesn't give any numbers, but it sounds EXPENSIVE, even though he did most of the plug prep himself. Go through the history at the top to read about the body portion.

I could take a shot at designing one if you want, it may take a while though. Give me a few more details as to what we're trying to achieve here.

    no,no NO - HELL NO

The issues we were raising as we were trying to pick options meant Shawn HAD to give us some scope to work within. FOR example, if we only need to build one and it's OURS then we dont' care how many hours it takes to build. SOOO digital instrumentation and CAN-bus don't carry a big advantage.

Worrying about boddy isn't an issue coz we're not tooling up to mass produce.
So a foam/wooden buck is cheap and easy former to make for mold masters and as they're only neeed ONCE then they;re 'cheap'. So by designing TO THE BRIEF we can make the right choices to meet Shawns needs.

So as soon as the man say 160ks before rebuild then we HAVE to pikc either a diesel or a lightly stressed petrol. So the LS1 starts to become the obvious choice for that power.

So, team, it's back into all our sub-threads and revist the discussions to ensure that our choice fit the brief

PS: Nice images and design Jim, coudl you revisit and review the threads on layout etc as mid/rear was preferred Like to see some clean images like that. Can you advise/help others on how to do similar for their ideas ????
