    M5 as good as Toyota Aristo ?

    Wondering opinions about the M5 v Toyota Aristo(Lexus GS300)
    Best Motoring compared these 2 cars and the Toyota Aristo came out on top.
    Lap time around Tsukuba Track Aristo 1.10.68,BMW M5 1.14.26 the Aristo spanked it by 3.5 secs.The Aristo did a 1.11,7 on a damp track

    I was reading a high performance imports mag(sad,but true)stumbled across a article about the Aristo,was astounded by its performance figures round that track,nearly 4 secs quicker than a M5 admitabley a 1992 model.Also did it to get the BMW fanboys revved up

    It may be faster, but I'd rather have an M5, than a Toyota.
    Thanks for all the fish

    I doubt that there is a Factory Aristo that can match an M5…. I remember BMW advertising the M5 as the fastest saloon in the World… maybe the Lexus was tuned… and we all know who wins without a doubt.... M5

    M5 no doubt. It's fast, reliable, and made by a company I trust. The toyota might be quick, but it's definitely not my favorite styling and I don't trust Toyota.

    For those who don't know the Aristo IS the GS300 but pushing these numbers

    Max. output
    (JIS) 279.8 PS (276.0 bhp) (205.8 kW)
    @5600 rpm
    Max. torque
    (JIS) 451.0 Nm (333 lbft) (46 kgm)
    @3600 rpm

    instead of 220hp like the regular GS300 known in the States does.
    Still is pretty impressive that it was able beat an M5.

    Aye same here.

    Comparing them is to waste time...
    Why a waste of time? I bet you would have never imagined the Aristo was that capable.

    But I have to admit that I would like to see them tested by a European driver. Best motoring always shows Japanese performance cars smoking Europeans' with much more hp and class. It's just beginning to smell....
