Well, here it is, the mini Phaeton. Initial Figures (Thanks GCF.com) indicate a range of Petrol Engines using the FSi Technology, ranging from 77 to 147 Kw at launch, with the 3.2 V6 coming in 2005.

Range of Diesels also.

New features include electronic handbrake and optional bluetooth phone.

Styling continues VW's new Grille theme taken from the Concept C/R cars.

IMO a bit ugly, what do you guys think?

Its not that bad .. not a fan of the rear though. The shape reminds me of a Citroen Xantia.

OMG!!!! That's beautiful!!!! There are traces of Audi in that car. I agree that the back is not totally nice but the overall car is simply gorgeous. I can't really describe why the back is a little bit ugly. Maybe because it slants from the top to the bottom too much (the angle). It really looks like a luxury car but hopefully with a Ford price.

I don't know about you, but the car looks great. The rear-end needs a tiny bit of work but it's a huge improvement.

I don't like the front, the rear, or the rims so i guess i don't really approve of it. I'll take the old one please.

I looked at some other pics. The general shape is pleasing, but it's only looking at the details that I was a little disappointed. The wheels look like they stick out too much, and the wheels well bulges are too accentuated. The 1/4 panel looks a little short. And I'm not a huge fan of the front.

Still, the overall shape is pretty nice, very hefty and solid looking. I think it'll be a success.

I just hate the new VW groups need to create cars with huge noses and grilles.....

It's pointless, and only serves to ruin otherwise fine shapes.

And the inbuilt boot spoiler is weird, and the angle of the boot almost looks like a peugeot 407.

Nice very nice… but I like the so called spy pictures more I seen few months ago, hmmm is it just me or has the car grown a great deal it looks like the size of A6, 5 series and E-class….

Well the 5-series, E, and A6 are midsizers, aren't they? So that would make sense.

IMO, it is ok. MUCH better than the new jetta. has a true german feel to it. especially in those spy shts posted by SPNOC

its a bit more interesting styling wise than the old one , thats for sure. the old passat was too plain.

i do agreee with I brake for rainbows though, this Huge front grill treatment is ruining some shapes that would be very nice indeed.

That looks like a mixture of a new Audi A6 and a new BMW 5 Series. I see traces of flame surfacing on the side!!!!!

However, I love it. Just colour code the bumpers and it'd be awesome. Something i'd be proud to drive!

Well the 5-series, E, and A6 are midsizers, aren't they? So that would make sense.

The old Passat B5 and B5.5 were just a little bit bigger than the Audi A4… 5 Series midsize , maybe for the US but in Australia and Europe they are considered as a large car… the 3 series and C-class are midsize.
