The new XK looks like it should redress the balance a bit. I saw the camo'd up prototype trawling about Coventry a few months ago, overall shape is good.

Jaguar started going downhill ever since they were incorperated into British Leyland.

I agree that a full CF tub would be alarmingly expensive, as will sourcing / building your F1 gearbox.

You could just follow the heard and go with a tubular spaceframe with GRP bodywork.

as much as your willing to spend really. Depends what use it will be for, racing, city driving etc... Different uses will nedded different asfety measures.
