That engine is pretty much perfect, and probably very fast!

•Torque and power output can be varied using a fixed capacity and piston stroke.
•Can be designed to operate at greatly reduced operating speeds while delivering high torque output

Does that answer any questions about the torque?

As for the transmission, i had my own idea for that

are there any torque figures available? I saw this thing a year ago also and what puzzles me is that no major car manufacturer has stepped in yet. Is there a catch that we don't know about? Could it be that all investments in engine development and production facilities have to be wirtten off in one go?

Wow that's quite the engine. I know how to synthesize ethanol in the lab, so we're all set to go

This can work, but only with direct injection I would believe: otherwise, the fuel would start to combust due to the heat of the head under high power operation. SO, basically, only if it uses a diesel type ignition system.

That is one amazing engine! It also has great flexibility.

    isnt direct injection good?

just the tone he used. i know he didnt say it directly, but the way he said it kinda gave the impression he was like "oh......we will just have to use direct injection.....oh well, could be worse". i mean........who knows what he thinks, just gave a wierd impression.

i thought it was more "we HAVE to use DI; OTHERWISE"

    Emphasising the "otherwise"

But Egg Nogs research shows ceramic has a low thermal conductivity, so it doesnt spread heat very well. The engine's gunna be running pretty cool all things considered, and even then, take an air cooled engine for example, they dont need DI for them.

add the low friction and thermal conductivity to the fact that it is burning alchohol. a much more stable fuel so preignition should not be such a problem. depending on HOW hot it runs, basicaly it will be all speculation based on compression, intake temperature, block termperature, and a:f mixture. im guessing we'll ignore some of these variables for simplicities sake
