Sounds good, lets see them please!

This is actually the original configuration of the 908 series. The 907 coupe is nearly a dead-ringer of this car (minus the 3-liter flat eight of course).

A couple of shots of a 908 in original coupe form, from the Rolex exhibit at this year's Historics.
Details of the adjustable rear wing on this langheck are clearly visible.

It's still part of the 908 family, isn't it?

it is but there is a separate thread for the 908-3, so why not for the 908-2?

There are already 908/2s and 908/3s in this thread though. Maybe some cleaning up should be done.

In more respect than one, the car I posted ages ago has actually been posing as the ex Steve McQueen car (#48). However when it was offered for sale at an auction a couple of years ago, it had to be withdrawn as the owner of the real car launched a complaint.....

If I may, the original 908 coupe, the LH, and both types of 908/2 spyders (Flunder & 'Coke bottle' bodies) shared more-or-less the same chassis, which is why there were so many body changes made between those cars over time (more than a couple of 908/2's started out life as LH's or coupes before being converted to /2 spec).

The 908/3 was a completely different chassis unto itself owing to the fact that gearbox was placed between the engine and the differential. On all other previous 908's the gearbox was placed behind the diff.

Good points, and thanks for making them. Too often it's forgotten that as race cars, these things were devices for a single purpose with a limited life, so were regularly modified and used up. The variety of Porsche details from 1962-1972 is mind boggling.

Indeed and even McQueen's infamous 908-"2"#22 started as a 908 coupe, while the real 908-2 #22 is the blue Gesipa car. Pedantly we could separate the two models, but where do we stop?
