A basic range of 16, but they'll do it any colour you want.

I went to the factory in September last year.

They have a small Mercedes "dealership" there where you can go to order/ collect your SLR.

There were 16 models displaying the colour range on the wall.

As I said, they didn't say exactly when they would start producing the wider range. They were still undergoing quality control checks at the time.

Not the same, but similar to this picture \/
(The ones I saw were top down, rather than side on, and smaller)

in black, nowadays all cars are silver. and it´s true that they´ll make other colours, I´ve read that in 2005 other colours were abilable.

I would get silver. Black hides some of the cars lines.

black, if you wanted to look more powerful and mean. silver, if you wanted the beauty the slr can offer.

Yep, just me and Mclaren Cars Ltd...

The Crystal Black and Crystal Silver, along with the 4 interior colour options of Black, Grey, SLR Red and Berry Red are the "launch" options.

    1) Why would I make it up?

Making up a story that I had a Nissan Skyline or something would almost be understandable - people might think I was "cool" or something.

Making up a story that there are going to be more than 2 colours on a car - who is going to be impressed by that? What would be the point?

    2) That is a Mercedes press picture - or did you think I photoshopped it or something?

    3) Can you "prove" that a larger range of colours WON'T be introduced?

    4) Here's a 2004 VIP pass from when I went to the Factory last year.
Strangely I didn't think to ask "Can I please have it in writing, signed by Ron Dennis, that there will be more colours later on so that I can prove it to some guy on the internet in 5 months time."
