    New Mazda MX5

Not really surprising, but it's a good looking car...

For me, it's great! It's a car inspired by a predecessor. Wich means they are respecting the essence that made this a much loved car, and that they aren't changing directions in the development of this classic.
Inspire a car in a previous version of it, is proving that they got it just right in the first place. And for brand lovers an previous model owners it just add's to the car value.

And a car doesn't need to be all "macho agressive" to look good.
It maybe rounded and feminin. But hey! I like females!

Why does everything have to be edgy? The Mazda doesn't jangle the nerves to look at it, but neither does the Boxster. There's a difference between a sports car, which those are, and supercars. The latter should be right out at the edge in terms of both performance and styling, but not the former.

hmm, it looks like they've added some smoother, 'secier' curves and gone away from the angular look. Taken some of the "wind" out of Renaults sails I think.

Some of the curves look similar to the 'wind' concept Reanualt launched.
Did one affect the other ? eg the Wind HAS got sharper lights.

Agreed, but I think its going in the right direction. The older ones have acctually been a laughingstock among my friend its 'the car that huffed n puffed, tried so hard and just quite didnt become a serious sportscar'. No offence owners.

Yeah i agree with matra, and i was wondering from witch concept was this new mx-5 buildt.

The looks, i prefer it to the old one, that's good news then, but the front lighs could use some work, they look like they've been put there not following any of the car lines, i'm sure they could do something better.

It's ovious you never drove or been driven in one of this cars.
Even a stock 1.6 NA, well driven, could make you wet your pants...
It's not very powerful, but a very well balanced car.

To those who don't know Miata history, the man behind this project was inspired by the 60's Lotus Elan (amongst others like the MGB).
As many will remember, Colin Chapman's goal was to take all the unnecessary weight from his cars, to keep them efficient.
That's exactly what happened with the original MX-5. And that's the reason why it has pure handling, great steering feel, agillity and is a total grin-factory for whoever sits behind the wheel of one.

Some years ago I sat for 5 minutes behind the wheel of a friend's Elan Sprint. Then I thought: I must have one of this... It's so small, so low, so sportscar...
Now I realise I need to work more to achieve that goal. But I wont accept being kept from the same kind of pleasure. So I'll lose a bit in style and value, but gain a bit in reliability. The only thing that always amazed me in Japanese cars.

Why is it that companys never make their production models, like their concepts?
