basicly, some decade in which porsche temporairly lost their sanity
and made that ludacris V8 with massive displacment and basicly zero output.
wanna laugh and learn at the same time just watch the Episode of Top Gear where they buy the 928, 944 and 968 for less then 1500 quid
hell of an episode and great comentairy

What episode was that? (So I can get it on www.viper007bond.com)

By the way, the 928 was produced all the way up to 1995.

see, i was talking about the basic 928, not the S4 or GTs models which did last till 95

    77-82 was the basic 928
    82-86 was the S2
    86-92 was the S4
    mean while the GT/S startes
    89-91 was the GT
    and 92-95 was the GTS

and sorry, i didnt answer about the top gear thingy...
but he is right, its the 20004.12.05

Ahh IMO porsche shouldn't have made these front engine cars..... The best front engine porsche made in my opinion is probably the 944. I guess it gave them more variety but I just don't really support the front engines...

It's quite simple; if Porsche hadn't made those front engined cars, they would not be making cars today.
If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.

That's why it was European car of the year, the only time a car of that class ever won.

people can laugh as much as they want but its my dream that my first Porsche would either be a 914 or a 924
preferably the 914 of any engine size, i just love that little go kart

Those heavy, front engined cars (mainly the 951) also out-performed the 911 in every way conceivable. Porsche underrated the cars so 911 sales wouldn't drop.
