    Isuzu 117 Coupe

One rare Japanese classic for change...

    Isuzu 117 Coupe.
    Revealed in Geneva, 1966.
Designed by Giugiaro at Carrozeria Ghia.
Mass Production 86192 units between 10/1968-5/1981
Early models were hand assembled until 1972.
    Engine originally Inline-4 1584 cc with 97 kW / 150 Nm (type G161W)
Interestingly, it was world's first engine to employ electronic fuel injection (ECGI) in production vehicle, licenced by Bosch of Germany.

Hm, never heard of it but an interesting little bugger. What was with the facination in the 60s/70s of putting the side mirrors on the hood? I see that on pictures of the Datsan 240Z.

It is complete mystery to me too.
I'd imagine side mirrors on the bonnet are pretty useless for looking behind.
They do look cool though....and very Japanese

With that much power out of such a small engine in 1966, it musta been force induced (*charged) or somewhere along the line the data has been messed up... or the engine had horrible reliability and tended to blow up.

I know, it sounds too sophisticated for 1960s but there is no mistake.
    Year was 1968.
Engine had 1584 cc and electronic fuel injection, which resulted 97 kW.

It was seen as "classy" in Japan back then, it made the car look more expensive to them.
