My Camera went into the water!!

Well, the title basically says it all... Accidentally my camera (which was inside its case) went into the water when I lost control of the Kayak that I was on.

I quickly took it out and tried to dry it with my T-Shirt but it was completely gone.

A friend's cellphone once fell into a pool and all he did was let it dry and it started working again. So I basically did the same thing, opened the camera and carefully dried all the circuits / chips and stuff and let it rest open the entire night.

Lucky me the camera now works perfectly (Who would have thought) But I missed an entire day of great pictures

Has anybody gone through something similar?

Here's a pic of my mom that I took about 2 minutes before dropping the camera, the scenery was beautiful. (BTW it's a place called "Jupiter" in Florida, about 2 hours north of Miami)

I dropped a portable fan in the water once...took out the batteries, let it dry, put in new ones, works fine.

I'm usually uber-careful with my stuff...

Once I dropped my walkman onto concrete from over 1 metres up. It kept working instantly.

The currents were really slow at the starting point, but yes it is a river.
