Why do I love cars from the 70's?

Can anyone explain this to me?

I love American cars from the 70s. I don't know why, I just do. Maybe it's their kind of off-beat styling. Maybe it's the enormous engine with four-cylinder power. Maybe it's the rear wheel drive. Maybe it's solid axles in the back. Maybe it's cause nobody else likes them.

    Why me?

Why the chevy monza, the ford mustang II, the AMX and the hornet, the Dodge Colt?

They don't have the handling and light weight of the British, nor the engineering efficiency of the Japanese. They aren't luxurious at all (shag carpeting). Why do I think they rule?

its because they arent made of plastic and cheap, easy to make engines like they are now. Ford Mustangs from that era are by far the nicest, the designing, the engine, the interior, its all the best. The reason is out there

you all know i'm talking about the late 70s. Like during the fuel crisis? Not so much the early 70s, and not really muscle cars, but the generation after them...the little coupes and sh...

If you put a small-block in one of the Monza-type cars (Monza, Skylark, Starfire), they actually ran pretty good. I had a Starfire Firenza with a 305 that I de-smogged and generally muscled up and it was a real sleeper. I beat more than my fair share of Mustangs and Camaros with it.

You do realize he's talking about the Mustang II, chevy monza, AMX hornet, the Dodge Colt right Spastic? Even the Camaros, Firebirds and Corvettes of the late 70s were horrible in every way

Maybe cause theyre crying out for attention or for someone to do something weird to them. On the surface they seem like the types of cars you'd never look twice at for anything but a day to day economy car.

Swap in a 350 Chevy in the Vega and then you've got something. But a bone stock Vega, I don't see how anyone could like that.

i think there was a cosworth vega, that could be cool.

My favorite is the 1979 AMC spirit AMX. Big engine, small car. Rad.

I feel like I should be the one asking why you like them.........

Maybe you just like them because they are the cars no one gives a mongoose about any more, and it's just "attraction to the forgotten"?
