    Most Important supercar ever

hey fellas...Ive been a long time lurker here and finally decided to post.

So I had a discussion with my brother about the most important supercar ever made and it came to two cars.
The Mclaren F1 for how performance much performance was possible for the road...still one of the best after all these years.

Ferrari F40 how it combined Fun exclusivity soul and performance.

so what do you guys think is the most important supercar ever made that changed the way supercars are though about.

Either the McLaren because it changed the entire way supercars are made and thought of. My other nominee is the Mercedes SL Gullwing because that was the beginning, it was the first true supercar, it was the first car that made kids lust after a car. Its still stunning to this day.

A slick body over the rather dissapointing mechanicals of a regular MB saloon?

Jaguar E-Type for bringing performance and beautiful looks within the budget of more owners than any car before.

F40 for me, its been my favourite supercar since i was a wee boy

it provides everything that a supercar should do; raw speed, excitement, pure race car mechanics, 200+ mph and the passion behind a brand like ferrari. There arent any computers helping you to drive it, when its driven you DRIVE it. Thats why its the best.

are we forgetting the Lotus Esprit? that car was amazing, pulling out of a 4-cylinder what lambos of the time pulled out of 12. with handeling to match and great looks it did everything right. weve watched it evolve and i am certainly looking forward to the next version/generation

Well I am basing this off of what they aid on Top Gear, they made quite a good argument for it being the first supercar. I still think its quite a machine, for the time.

F40 was an important one........but the Mclaren F1 definitely redefined "supercar", from being some cool thing, to being the type of thing like the Pagani Zonda, and Koenigsegg CCR: The modern idea of a supercar.

Yeah, not exactly many cars hold their records for a decade or so. Crazy car. So crazy. So awesome too.
