Record for Touareg

A German crew of 8 men, set a new record by driving a standard Volkswagen Touareg to the top of the heighest volcano, the Ojos del Salado. The volcano is the heighest place of the world (6.080m) reachable for cars.

The team first drove trough the Atacama-desert in order to set up a basecamp at 4.400m. The trip wasn't only ment to set a record, but also to install a seismographic instrument to meisure the activity of the volcano.

Because of the shortage of air, the car lost almost 2/3 of it's power when it passed the 4000m...

No not exactly, but I thought it was just a standard diesel. The only extra things it had were a winch and a stronger bottom plate...
