    battle of the supercars

    here is the contest
Mclaren F1 vs. Maserati Mc12 vs. Ferrari Enzo vs. Ferrari F50 vs. Saleen S7 vs. Vector WX-3

    Mclaren F1

    Engine Type
    V12

    Engine Size
    6064 cc

    Horsepower
    627 bhp

    Torque
    649 Nm (479 lb.ft)

    Max. Speed
    356 km/h (222 mph)

    0-60 mph
    3.1 sec

    0-100 mph
    6.3 sec

    1/4 mile
    11.1 sec @ 138 mph

    Weight
    1138 kg (2500 lb)

    Price
    $1,000,000

The Mclaren F1 is the fastest production car ever built, invented by gordon Murray, it has 600+ HP and can go 240 MPH. 100 were built. there is also the rareity F1LM where 5 exhist, and it goes 205, but it is heavier, so it handles better and is more aerodynamic, so it is easier to handle than the lightwieght out of control F1. There are F1s still racing on the raciing circuit with the Help of BMW

    Maserati MC12

    Top Speed over 205 mph / 330 km/h
    0-60 mph est. 3.8 seconds
    Power 512 bhp @ 7500 rpm
    Stroke 2.96 in. / 75.2 mm
    Torque 481 lb-ft @ 5500 rpm
    Compression Ratio 11.2:1
    Redline 7700 rpm
    Final Drive Ratio Not Available
Transmission 6-speed Manual w/ paddle shift
    Base Price $795,000
Production 25 per year for 2 years

the Mc12 hit the ground running, it is practically an Enzo clone, but soomehow, it is slower. when it was at autoshows, some people bought one at the Maserati display, it has a F1 version built for GT racing, and unlike the Enzo, the interior is racecar reminecent, where you can see the electrical lines, it is strip and back to basics, 25 will be built per year for 2 or 3 years.

    Ferrari Enzo

    Top Speed 220 mph / 326.7 kph
    0-60 mph 3.6 seconds
    Skidpad 1.03g
    0-100 mph 8.0 seconds
    Power 640 bhp @ 8,500 rpm
    Stroke 2.72 in. / 69.0 mm
    Torque 347.0 ft-lb. @ 6,500 rpm
    Compression Ratio 11.3:1
    Redline 8,500 rpm
    Base Price 480,000

The Ferrari Enzo is a F1 worthy car made in celebration on Ferrari's founder, Enzo Ferrari. it is just like a F1 car and it goes to 220 MPH. 399 were made as this car was to be made in limited numbers, it is the fastest street legal car Ferrari has ever produced, but since it is out of production, Lamborghini is on top again, but the spirit of the Enzo lives on in the Maserati MC12.

    Ferrari F50

    Top Speed 203.0 mph / 326.7 kph
    0-60 mph 3.6 seconds
    Skidpad 1.03g
    0-100 mph 8.0 seconds
    Base Price $480,000
    Power 513.1 bhp @ 8,500 rpm
    Stroke 2.72 in. / 69.0 mm
    Torque 347.0 ft-lb. @ 6,500 rpm
    Compression Ratio 11.3:1
    Redline 8,500 rpm

The Ferrari F50 is the successor to the F40. it was introduced in 1995 and it used F1 derived parts, making 500 Hp. It was made in limited numbers and production ended in 1998. A convertable and Coupe were available. This was Ferraris fastest street legal car, but it was topped by the 600 Hp Enzo.

    Saleen S7

    Top Speed 200.0 mph / 321.9 kph
    0-60 mph under 4 seconds
    Base Price 375,000
    Power 549.9 bhp @ 6,400 rpm
    Stroke 4.0 in. / 101.6 mm
    Torque 525.0 ft-lb. @ 4,000 rpm
    Compression Ratio Not Available
    Redline 7,000 rpm

The Saleen S7 is an american supercar that is built in the USA, and it has the potential to compete with the big dogs like Ferrari, Lamborghini, and it does it very well. It is still in production, as it is Steve Saleens biggest shining star, which is something new for Saleen, fianlly, a home made car, not a modded Mustang

    Vector WX-3

    Top Speed 250.0 mph / 402.3 kph
Base Price planned to be $1,000,000
    Power 1,000 bhp @ 5,800 rpm
    Torque 950 nm @ 4,900 rpm

the VEctor WX-3 is in a class by itsself. Designed by master designer Gerald Wiegert, this car served as the replacement for the W8. With 1,000 Hp and a top speed of 250 MPH this car can blow the doors off of a tank. inside it has a interior like a jet fighter with lcd screens and jet like levers. a convertable version called the WX-3R was built. Due to management issues production never got underway. When it comes to Supercars, this one pretty much takes the cake. Today Wiegert with the new Vector is developing a car called the WX-10, but I don't think it will match the WX-3. Supercars will come and go, but there will bever be another VEctor WX-3.

Out of these I'd take the McLaren F1. Where did you get that the F1 is too light and out of control?

Also how does being heavier make a car handle better?

I'd rather have a S7TT above all the supercars out there, but you didn't put it in.

pretty much, when a car is heaver, it sticks to the ground better, another reason the F1LM handles battter is because it's bodykit reduces lift.

The only place I've seen 2.9 seconds is on the manufacturers web site. Which I'm sure isn't an exaggerated or biased number at all .

I've seen stats of a broken in enzo hitting 60 in 3.3 and 100 in 6.6, though.

What is the thread asking? Which one we would choose? Or which one we think would win a race?

Yes, but that does not equal better handling! The heavier a car is the less agile it will be and the less speed you will be able to carry through corners. That is not my idea of better handling.

No, not always. You can have a 5,000 pound car, but if you're putting out enough downforce at a low enough speed, it'll corner better than a elise or atom.
