**** michelin, i live in Indy and i DID support F1 but i can't do it anymore, this is proof that european racing will shit on america whenever they can.

I don't blame Michelin. They had tires available at the track which would have been safe to run. There could have been changes to make the original tires safe.

Bernie Eccelstone decided that his precious rules were more important than respecting the fans -- the ones who made him a freakin' millionare! -- and going out of their way to give the people what they came for. Imagine the people who have spent thousands of dollars on plane fare, hotels, event tickets and all the rest.

This is a sad, sad day in motorsport, why couldn't they postpone or do the race again some other time when there wouldn't be an issue? I am just happy I went yesterday and saw everyone run in practice and qualifying.

They couldn't do that because it seems Ferrari wouldn't agree to it. .

It makes me ashamed that I used to be a Ferrari fan. But I guess tne needs of the two outweigh the needs of the eighteen. No matter what happens, Ferrari must never be offended.

Then again let's imagine all this had happened in some european gp.

Sure, the race would have been a disaster as this one is, and the sport would have lost some of it's fans. The next year it would probably have been almost back to normal though.

But. It all happened in America. Regarding to the reactions in here and in the gp, the popularity of F1 in the US will go down, hard.

Maybe it's because the americans have other racing classes to go for. But in the Europe, there's no road racing class comparable to F1.

Steve Matchett on Speed made a good point on speed that if problems had happenned to the Bridgestones, there would be very little sympathy for Ferrari.

Some entities have been working hard to develop US interest in the series, such as Red Bull and it's development series for American drivers. Speed got a lot of attention from the press locally but now all of that is ashes. I can't imagine any potential US companies even considering an investment in F1 sponsorship after this.

We didn't buy tickets to the race. We only went to qualifying and that has suddenly seemed like a good thing.

This is going to destroy F1 in this country, despite any efforts. Why couldn't the FIA just suck it up change the course and then the race would of gone on fine.
