    Pontiac Fiero vs. Toyota MR2

    Pontiac Fiero

    1984-1988

The Pontiac Fiero started an entire trend or budget extoic like sports cars, but for teh first model year, there was a complaint about engine fires. The Fiero was a good idea, but Pontiac making it a Citation undernieth ruiened it. but don't be scared, later Fieros are safe.

    Toyota MR2

    1986-2005
The MR2 started life as a car to battle the Fiero, but later in it's life, it turned to a pocket Ferrari. The MR2 was built better than the Fiero, and was more sucessfull. (well duh it was a Toyota). The MR2 was popular in the tuner world, and in 1999 it was turned into a Miata like roadster, and Toyota said that no more MR2s will leave the assembly line after the 2005 model year ends, same with the Celica.

EDIT: they stopped sending them to the US, but are still available in the UK and such. you can still buy one in the US, because the Dealers will still sell them as long as they're in inventory, after that, you can't.

i like the MR2 cause its more stylish....tho either with a V8 would sound kool.(both have had V8's swapped in'em)

"started an entire trend" is an odd phrase for a car introduced in 1984 given that the French had been producing them for 20 years before that - Bonnet, Matra, Alpine, Ligier, Darrian, etc etc etc

i belive it ws implying it started a whole "trend" in the US, as the cars you menthioned were never imported here(the US).

most successful 1960s club racers in the US were converted sports cars.

I did guess that it was typical comments forgetting there's a whole other world outside of ones home-town

I test drove both cars in the mid 80s and I remember that the Fiero was very disapointing when compared to the MR2. The MR2 had a much better interior (ergonomics, quality ect.) A very precise, short throw shiter, very nice handling and a rev happy engine. None of which made it to the Pontiac. The MR2 all the way

Just for the record, you can actually add a poll yourself, it's not anything that requires mod assistance.

I Vote MR2. However, if there's one car I ever regret not buying, it's a V8 Fiero. Goddamn it why did I not buy that!?!
