Jet engines have like 12,000 lbs of thrust per engine. Some times more. They race those things on the salt flats.

The Brabham is said to be the most powerful F1 engine. However it must be noted that it was a qualifying special. The race trim engine was more like 1000 (just guessing). The Brabham engineers say that they never actually dynoed the engine, as the dyno could measure up to 1400 hp. So the 1500 hp figure is just a very well funded speculation (the engineers KNOW the engine they are building).
The thread is a bit general, as you can mention even a spaceship engine. If some form of categorization was imposed, then it would make info exchange a lot easier

Don't think the Saturn 5 qualifies as a motor... motor needs to convert energy into mechanical froces, and that force must drive vehicle. Rockets are motors in a sense but... i havent heard of any races lately. sames goes for jets, i dont think the USAF wants the F-15s racing like simpleton said it has to be top fuel/ funy cars they make over 5000 horses, and cant be dynoed for obvious reason... that number just comes from the fact that they would need at least that much power to be as fast as they are
