    Top 3 classics

    Feel free to join in.

    Personally, I'd go for

    1955 Mercedes 300SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe
    1952 Ferrari 250GTO
    1957 Porsche 550 Spyder

There are many more, but these are definitely my top 3.

    Before any car is proposed:

Define Classic: Landmark car , or car I (want to) own ?

I guess the easiest way to answer is this:

Classic car: Any car you'd like to see in your garage from any timeline, except the modern era (pre 1980s I'd say). Even if it's post 1980. Who am I to say what contitutes a classic anyhow?

The 1 million dollar question. Is a beetle a classic? Will a Trabant ever be a classic and before you start laughing, yes there was actually one participating in the classic run on Silverstone this weekend. There are many landmark cars I don't want to own, and probably there are many cars I want to own which are not considered landmark cars, but I still would settle for them.... (let's say a Ferrari Mondial)

That's right Henk , a beetle is definitly a classic, I do not think they can be much discussion about that but its not a car I would like to own

A trabant is also a classic but one I could see myself driving in, as a matter of fact I seriously considered buying a estate a few years ago but in the end I bought a VW rear engined van because it was more practical for the same bucks

As for -cars I like to own- classics: The longing is mostly better than actually having to live with !

(so why do I torture myself so much than ?)
