It will be coupled to a faster shifting 7-speed auto, there are rumors floating around that there is also a DSG-type 7-speed in developement.

Yes the engine is the new DOHC configuration.
Quattro Man If I remember correctly 24,000 AMG engines are made annually with this new 6.2L replacing the supercharged 5.4L and possibly the regular 5.4L.

i thought the AMG people just hand assemble the engine... they don't actually make one from scratch, do they??
E55 does sound better than E63, may be they should bump it to E65... as in SL65

    but then i like C32 more than C55... any chance we'll get a C63? that'd be mad....

Knowing what the 63 and 55 stand for, I'd prefer a E63, don't have to doubt about that

I totally agree. Unless Mercedes are trying to bring back the glory days of the 6.3 Mercedes 300SEL. Still, I like the 55 moniker more-

    SLK63 - SLK55
    E63 - E55
    S63 - S55
    SL63- SL55
    C63 - C55
    CLK63 - CLK55

Well, putting it like that, the SL63 would encroach on the SL65, and the same goes for the S-Class.

C63- overkill. I think Mercedes were on a winner with the 55.

(prefix)63 works well for Brabus, but not for AMG.
