The ford Tempo was Ford again trying to create a popuylar car, and it worked. It was based on a stretched Escort Platform. Even though sales started out slow, but in 1986 it was redesigned, a design that would lead to the revolutionary 1986 Ford Taurus. Slaes really picked up after the redesign and the car sold well until it was replaced by the Ford Contour, which was Ford's next attempt at a world car. The Countour was a slightly modified version of the European Ford Mondeo. There was a constant stalling problem on early model Tempos but late model Tempos have a record for reliability.

Ford Escort

The Ford Escort was Ford's World Car. It was redesigned in 1991 on a new Mazda Chassis and it was then well known for it's swift handling and record for reliability. the new Escort got a new design simular to that of the Ford Taurus. It came in many body styles including hatchback, 4 door hatchback, Wagon, and Sedan. This model sold well even though the older models sold better, and the Escort was discontinued in 2003 when it was replaced by the Ford Focus.
