Well,at the first glance I DISliked the car especially that it has that front headlights & grill borrowed from the X3 apparently. But after a minute of staring at the pictures I should admit that I can't say but 'THUMBS UP Bangle'.Better if we see the tail lights more BMW like though.

How can anyone say this car is ugly?!

The damn thing is a work of art and may have a good chance of making a similar production model now that Bangle has been moved 'upstairs'.

The 5 and 7 are a mess and this baby and the 1/2 series are gonna keep the brand alive and kicking whilst they figure out what the hell they are going to do about the mess they have left with the 5/7.

I like it ... And when the "tuners" get hold of it, expect to see the new M5 motor tucked under the bonnet and it will be one hell of a stormer.

Also, If was ever going to replace my VR-4, this car could be it.

well im not really sure either, all i know is the Z4 lines up against the SLK. I'd more than likely put the M6 up against the SL55 but its possible i suppose to also compare it to the CL

I suspect that BMW is tweaking it's line-up.

    1-series (Mini size range - 2005)
    2-series (Current 3-series compact range)
    3-series (3-series - as is)
    4-series (Small-size coupe)
    5-series (5-series - as is)
    6-series (Mid-size coupe)
    7-series (7-series - as is)
    8-series (Luxury-size coupe - discontinued)

the 4 series is replacing the 3 series coupe remember......odds are sedans and the evens are their coupe equivalent so its: 1 series sedan-2 series coupe, 3 series sedan-4 series coupe, 5 series sedan-6 series coupe.

Just spotted this BMW 2005 which showed that the 1 and 2 series will probably replace the 3-series compact range.

the 1 and 2 will be based of an even shorter 3 series compact platform so i dont know where that will leave the 3 series compact, but i dont think it will be killed off

Is the 3-series "compact" a success. I thought it might be a BMW exercise, until they have a the purpose built series made (i.e. the 1 and 2 series). The compacts may have diluted the 3-series brand, hence the move to 4-series for the coupe and the 1-2 series due later. This would leave the 3 series as a singe shape series (i.e. 4 door sedan (or wagon)).

i think the compact would be a success but now that im thinking about it i dont think they'll get rid of it either, considering MB sell the sports coupe as well as the A class. the move to the 4 series is just somethign i think BMW wants to do to give their coupe models a different identity to the sedan equivalents
