VQs are Nissan motor....they've been around since late 90s and the motors were made in Japan...Renault started to use VQ in some of their car in the last few years...

the only VQs made in the states are the ones used in US built cars. most are still made in japan. and i think renault only uses the VQ in the platform mate cars like the Laguna.

why does Clarkson state that the engine is french at 3:05 into the video? I know he's clarkson, and an idiot, but to give false information?

I've also been trying to find another 350Z test in which Hammond pretty much states the same but it must have been removed.

Never ever take any fact Clarkson says for granted.

The point in the reviews he does is to be find somehwere else.

I have seen the casting on the block on the 3.0 Nissan engine[pre 3.5]. They were used here in South Africa in the Nissan pickups and the Nissan VQ car. Renault casting on the right hand side under the exhaust manifold. The local Nissan dealer here also think these engines are made by Renault

I wouldn't be surprised if the later VQs were a Nissan engineered evolution of the French National 3.0V6.

How can Jeremy Clarkson get away with giving false information on the most watched television show of all time? Even I know the 350Z doesn't have a French engine.

yeah, i just perused the wiki pages, and the renaults that use the VQ were assembled in france, but fitted engines built in japan. and the VQs used in US built cars are made in tennessee.

Tooling and casting can be made anywhere, and I am sure its more economical to have the same casting mold at different foundries instead of shipping assembled motor everywhere....Cars like Altima, Maxima, Pathfinder...etc probably have their American made engine. Infiniti which most are still imported will have the Japanese ones. The European made cars be it as Renault or Nissan probably has ones made in Europe....
