    Positive reaction to BF Falcon

    http://carsguide.news.com.au/news/st...E29778,00.html

...Too lazy to copy/paste/quote the article, probably end up longer than the 10,000 character limit anyway. The usual mix of Ford fanatics, FWD lovers waiting for the 380 and new Avalon and Holden fanboys despising all thing Ford but generally it seems a large % of people are impressed with the new 6 speed and would buy the car if they had the money.

Congratulations Ford. If the BA and Territory werent enough proof to trust customer feedback following the AU, this just adds to it.

A bit of a mixed reaction on the XR6 Turbo forum...
    http://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/in...howtopic=19470
But I guess these guys are possibly a bit scared of a change from the norm.. more concerned about resale values etc.
I think the 6 speed auto will be a good thing for the BF, but I wouldn't get back into an auto personally.

Are they real?? Cause about 6 years ago the Hawthorn Football Club was acussed of selling memberships to the local dog pound No word of a lie lassy bought 1.

Well in 06 there will be quite a few 6 speeds in auto going around.
    I wouldn't mind a 6 speed myself.

Yeah, 5 and 6 speed autos are becoming the norm and some of the higher end manufacturers are bringing out 7 speed autos now - imagine that!

Personally, I've just come out of owning an auto BMW - biggest mistake of my life as I love driving.. my XR is a 6 spd manual - but it all comes down to personal preference at the end of the day.

How else will Hawthorn FC get so many members? LOL!!!

I like Auto's but 30% of the time i would love a Manual from time to time, But in them days i can't be stuffed i would hate it

I think a 6 speed auto is more then enough, Next they will bring out 7-8 speed manuals and the only time we will be able to use the 7-8 gears will be the autobarn

Ive long lost my respect for the XR6T forums, much like the LS1 forums it was much like a giant brown nosing competition when i spent alot of time there.

Its interesting how some people will jump to the conclusion that a diff ratio lower (if by lower, a lower number in the ratio) than 3:1 is suddenly a ploy to save fuel. The transmission infact has its first 4 ratios shorter than the first 3 in the BTR, 5th is the same (almost) as 4th and 6th is taller

I agree with you guys - there's some good info there but they are all too one-eyed and close-minded for my liking.

most people your age opt for the utes...considering theyrea good $6-7k cheaper, you can see why. the sedans are the compromise car. larger but softer than a WRX, and almost as fast in a straight line.

so yeah i dare say when it comes time to sell the 200, you might be more in a position to appreciate one

How much extra go will the car have with just a 6 speed auto anyway?

could be half a second on the F6, quarter on the XR6T and 0.1-2 on the V8's. the advantages come with having the first 4 gears shorter than the outgoing first 3 gears, plus the engine changes make them more torquey and the torque converter goes into full lockup quicker, so its not a definate thing just for the 6 speed, its the little gains everywhere that should get consistent 5's ad 13's

Keeps it in the zone better Thats why my nephew i think got his car done with the 3.9LSD and had the auto redone somehow to get in the good spot more.

the 3.9 puts more torque to the ground compared to like a 3.5 or 3.2...how that works is whilst it makes the car slower in top speed, the torque multiplication through the drivetrain is more, so the engines torque is amplified which is usually how higher ratios make cars faster over 400m

Thats why when i dropped the gear behind him and let it off for 1 sec i couldnt really get past him cause it's faster over what was almost a 400m sprint we did
    My diff i think has a 3.09
