In the New York market, there are plenty of ads (both print and TV) for their cars which by the way are not rubbish. Rubbish is a word best associated with Kia or Daewoo (or just about any American car . And as far as I know, the 1 series will not be coming stateside. Maybe the 2 series when they are released will be brought over.

    Rubbish!

Too expensive, handles like a fwd car, cramped interior, looks like a shoe.

Reasons for buying one - you are so shallow that you have to own a BMW but can't possibly face buying a 2nd hand 3 series.
    Thanks for all the fish

well all of the cars in its class are FWD, the reason for its cramped interior is due to the RWD and the layout of it, and i dont know how a RWD can handle like a FWD...., i think it looks ok..

I recently read an article on this 1 Series. The guy who wrote it clearly new nothing about BMW style and must have been about 5 ft 2. He said it looks beautiful with all those classic BMW features (Dual Headlamps, grille etc.) and he also said it clearly packs a lot of space inside. I couldn't believe what I was reading.

I'm 5 ft 11 and it was bloody cramped for me in a 1 Series. It is also without a doubt, IMO, the ugliest car currently in production today.
On a Good day, Chris Bangle designs the Fiat Coupe.
On a Bad day, he designs a BMW.
