Which do you think will win a race (around, say Laguna Seca)on standard stock specifications:
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (with ZL1 suspension)
or
Ferrari F430 ?
I think the 'vette (more torque, flat handling)
or am i wrong?

I hope the Vette would win. I am fed up with Ferrari these days, as I think they are ugly and overrated.

On a Bad day, he designs a BMW.
R.I.P Richard Burns.
I'd need to see the specifications, but I'm leaning towards the F430.

From turn 5m though 7 and up the hill on Rahal I'm reckoning the Ferrari would need an extra gearshift so would lose time there. The 'vettes' torque woudl let if pull out I reckon.
Round the corkscrew I think it might lose out again as the drop and turn for a mid/rear engine is upsetting. Equally though the vette coudl go light on the rears and lose some traction. Does anyone know the polar moments of the cars ?
Turn 1 to 5 I'd give to the F430.
Close call I reckon but at differnet points on the lap either car coudl be 1-2 seconds ahead In a race I'd give it to the F430 as once in front it woudl pull out enough on the corners and the vette may get close but not enough to be able to out-corner.
"A woman without curves is like a road without bends, you might get to your destination quicker but the ride is boring as hell'
In terms of the facts and stats there's not a lot to choose between the two, so I reckon it could all depend on tyres. I know the ZO6 is pitched as the 'hardcore' race car for the road, does that mean it runs on sticky P-Zero Corsa/Yoko AO48 type trackday tyres or does it have more 'conservative' road biased tyres?
If it's the former I would vote for the 'vette, otherwise I think I'd say 'rrari.

I'm leaning towards the F430. Probably better through the corners, although the 'vette would pull it back on the straights. Pretty tight....
I'm still calling the F430 because it is also quick as hell.
"The thunder of 1001bhp would send a sonic boom through his carbon fibre shell, crack it in half and leave a wet puddle on the fancy leather seat."
the F430 because we know more about it right now.
