indeed.it has it's appeal on the looks side too.i have looked at it sriously, for a very cheap car to drive around the country and to france.

A Peugeot transmission was offered in some Jeep/AMC vehicles in the '80s and '90s so you're closer to the mark than you might think.

Yeah I would have figured Renault parts, not Peugeot parts. Just goes to show you how interbred the damn industry is; even 30 years ago, before the current bigger wave of consolidation and globalization.

Well, thinking about it the Renault deal gave AMC access to the PRV engine (if I'm not mistaken). Maybe the Peugeot connection comes from there.

On the PRV engine, the Autozine guy always used to call it the 'French National V6' because anything and everything French that had 6 cylinders would use it. I like that as a name.
