Ferrari 250 GT Tour de France 1956-1959

This, IMO, is one of the most good-looking automobiles ever...
    Simply beautiful.

He came dancing across the water
    With his galleons and guns
    Looking for the new world
In that palace in the sun
    On the shore lay Montezuma
With his cocoa leaves and pearls

    Tour de France

Named for the 10-day automobile race.

(not to be confused with famous bicycle race of the same name )

My guess would be it is a wind/bug deflector to reduce the debris that reaches the windscreen.

Then again, I'm no Ferrari expert

that is correct... better to crack a small plexiglass bit than the actuall windshield - especially in a race...
