yeah, I was surprised they stuck with SHelby-look stripes given that the Gulf colours always looked the best and were best known world-wide.

( though if shown Gulf colours most folks will say Porsche - perhaps THAT's why )

I don't particularly like that as a paint job for a street car. And Fords weren't the only ones to use it.

If they really wanted a "heritage" paint, they should go with a white base and a matte dark blue hood. AFAIK, no other race car has used that scheme and that was the original paint for the Ford GT.

The "Shelby stripes" were used by the factory team through most of the racing career of the Ford GT. The "Gulf stripes" were only used when the cars were handed over to the private team and the cars were run as Mirages rather than Fords.

note I said best known world-wide

Also Ford ran a whole variety of colours before SHelby popped the striped on too..... MkII ........

To the youngsters i't probably all SHelby look, down to Ford marketing perhaps
As I'd said Gulf although a striking look was used by most famously Porsche and later McLaren etc.

Yeah, Gulf's always had amazing color schemes, but I think the Davidoff F1 GTR Longtail took the cake for best Gulf scheme.

Then again, I think any of the McLarens with the Gulf schemes were the sexiest....besides the Finas.
