Giorgietto Giugiaro wanted a Ferrari for himself designed by himself. The efforts you have seen by Kia are real prototypes, which never make it to the street in any form. Giugiaro's recent concepts and production cars (Brera / 159) have easily outclassed the competition so it's rediculous to say he lost all his credibility.
If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.

Here's another pic of the one-off concept. I think it looks better than the 612 but not much like a Ferrari should look...which is a moot point since this will never be a Ferrari.
