British car identification, expert help required

I need some people to throw some names/ pictures of obscure British low volume mid-engined sports cars at me, since I am thinking of something but can't remember what the hell it is and who makes it.

Noble sized, but quite rounded bodywork, a bit like the Ascari KZ1.

Looks quite good, with a nifty interior, probably about the £50,000 or less mark.

Very, very, very low production were talking here, possibly not even in production yet, but I am fairly sure it has been around for a while.

I know there are a lot of them, I was having difficulty wading through them all trying to find it!

I didn't want to be too specific in case I wasn't remembering it correctly, and giving people disinformation.

Anyway;- the plot thickens!

only the best at attracting the kind of PR that gets covered in the press you get to read.

The Ultima is the best for outright performance. The Atom is the best for outright fun AND performance. The Caterham/Westfield/Stryker et al are the best for feel, directional control and fun. The Noble is best for having a good overall package close to mass production quality and fewer drawbacks. The Deronda is best for 2 up track fun. The Lotus is best at being a Lotus The TVR is best for the sound and the feel. The xxxxxx ... hope you get the idea by now, there are many many more !!!!!

Just wanted to add something small. I've drive a few different types of Lotus 7s and the best, by a mile, is the Caterham. Apparently it has something to do with the rear suspension set-up & geometry they use - either way, it works really well. It's much more forgiving than the other two, quicker and better built as well.

MrK, try a Sylva Strker. The front suspension setup is way better than the C imho until recently when C has now copied it's layout. Not had the chance to push a new caterham CSR yet, but hopefully soon and will see how it matches.

For road use the front possibly wans't a big issue.

It was in fact a Virago coupe, which just happens to look exactly identical to the Phantom.
