Not entirely true, in Factory Appearing Stock Tire racing, were classic muscle cars run on skinny, vintage bias ply tires, and manage extremely consistent runs between 10.97-11.93 at over 130mph, all with much less than 500hp. I gaurantee if you put slicks on these cars they'd run 9's.

I drove a Twin Cam 16v more than once. Even moded, it's virtually impossible.
I think it's possible. If you in a automatic take the OD off at around 80 and floor the gas pedal you can redline it good enough to reach 140mph maybe. Someone try it who can afford it.

In my 1981 230E Benz I have hit a bit over 180km/h I am guessing about 184km/h. And in my moms 1996 Volvo 850 GLT it goes 225km/h. (Yes I live in Germany and I did it on the Autobahn.)
