I think so. Along with a rear wheel drive successor (on the Quattroporte platform) for the 166 with a new Maserati V8.

I heard/read about it last week but I can't remember where exactly. Of course nothing is 100% sure but I seem to remember that the plans have gotten a green light. I heard about the coupé and the new 169 being built, can't seem to remember anything about the spider. As for engines, I only know that the cars will sport a newly developed 4.7 litre Maserati V8. I guess the 169 will also have the usual engines like the 2.0 JTS, 3.0 or 3.2 and the 2.4 JTD.
I'll try to look up where I heard/read about it.

8C Berlinetta and Spider will be presented in Paris Motorshow ready for production. They'll have Maserati mechanicals and carry a new 4.7-litre V8 which will be shared by Maserati and Alfa Romeo and it's rumoured to produce in excess of 470bhp in the 8C. The 169 (166 succesor) will be made on the M139 platform (Quattroporte's), but other than that it's too early to say anything else.

Don't know how many times I've already said that...

THEY ARE REALLY GONNA BUILD THE 8C That's the best news I've heard in some time They said they were gonna build it but then they said they didn't because it would attack Maserati territory. Can't wait to see the production version, they'd better not change anything on the concept
I think Koenigsegg is Swedish for: "Oh no, my head's just exploded!"

The best thing about this car is that Alfa Romeo has officially anounced that they are making it.

Alfa Romeo at Geneva’s 78th International Car Show

Alfa Romeo once again unveils its new models onto the world market at the Geneva event. Indeed, following on from the Alfa 159 and Brera in 2005, the 159 Sportwagon and Spider in 2006, and its Personalisation Programme going by the name of “Alfa Unica” in 2007, it is now the turn of the alluring Alfa 8C Spider.

Undisputed centre stage on the stand, this new car inherits its coupe sibling’s winning formula that shook the motoring world. Put together by Alfa’s Centro Stile and production limited to 500 cars, this new open top immediately entices with that unmistakable “Italian elegance”, a unique and inimitable style that hints at its typically sporty Alfa handling.

Under the bonnet is a powerful 8 cylinder 4.7 litre engine producing 450 HP, matched to a 6 speed robotic gearbox, the new Alfa 8C Spider is truly beautiful, powerful and rock solid, where its gracious lines and dimensions gel perfectly with typical Alfa Romeo engineering and drive-ability. Needless to say, alongside this attractive Spider is the Alfa 8C Competizione, the epitome of Alfa Romeo’s innovation in the fields of engines and engineering, heightened competitiveness and continuous technological research.

Before these pics I always though I'd rather have a coupe.

But this... I cannot believe my eyes...

This is seriously challenging the 250 GT California Spyder as the most beautiful spider ever produced.

I'd say it looks nice in white, but there is no way I would take it over a California.
