    Did ford ever stop making the Mustang?

    nop, there is a 05-06 mustang and a shelby cobra comin out anytime soon.

    No. The Mustang was close to being cut in the 80's, but a nice reinvention saved the name. Ground up redesign for 2005.

    That mustang is a hell of a car. But it needs to loose 500 pounds!

    The Mustang was built on the Fox chassis from 1979 'til 2004. The latest version was called the SN95 chassis which was used from 1994 'til 2004.

    The new 2005 Mustang is built on the S197 chassis which shares very little, only ~30%, of its components with Ford's global lineup.

    That's right. Right now it's built on the Lincoln LS platform, shortened and lowered, to give the car a more tough look. Personally, I agree with everyone that the 2005 Mustang GT is a HUGE improvement over the previous ones, but I think it could have been designed better.
    The ability for outward expression is dependent on substance...
