Your mistake is and has always been that your reasoning cannot be uniquely applied to motorsport.

Yes it can, you should be able to differentiate. Your radium keeping example poses a direct hazard to the lives of others, driving cars for fun doesn't (unless if you ran over someone by accident). Caging endagered species for fun verges on crime, because you render the life of those animals miserable. Driving for fun doesn't hurt anyone. I agree it pollutes, but the pollution ensueing of this is minimal, and can hardly pose a real threat to public health.
