Simple pleasures are the best... the Toyota 2000GT is as elegant from nearly every angle as the early Jaguar E-Type. I like some of the modern stuff too, but prefer the old iron. In the foreground of pic#3 is a Toyota 800 Coupe targa version!

So you think that the Toyota 2000 GT is a bad looking car?

Compared to similar cars of that era? Yes. I do.

I was thinking more... Jag E Type. Same basic shape; better execution. The driving lights on the 2000 just look out of place and after-thought-ish.

I think the 2000GT is a stunning car, but by the same token it was heavily influenced by Jaguar and Ferrari design-thinking. Toyota have never been particularly good at "designing" cars, they always tend to imitate other marques (MR2 anyone?).

The S13 Nissan Silvia was in my opinion a masterstroke of simplicity - out of all things 1980's this machine was very pretty.

The Tommy Kaira ZZ-II was brilliant - pity it never made it into production. That car was eye candy from just about every angle.

The FD series RX-7 was sheer elegance. Not a sharp edge on the car, nice flowing lines, highly aerodynamic and suitably wide without looking overweight. The proportions of the RX7 were classic and the lines are timeless.

I have soft spots for the Subaru Alcyone SVX and the Mazda Cosmo, it's a real shame that these cars were too slow to be proper grand tourers.

I don't think that the last generation Supra was handsome or good looking at all. Those headlights were disastrously ugly, like the eyes on a bird-eating spider and the taillights were equally dismal. Proportions on the car were nice, the lines weren't too awkward, but the details spoiled it for me.

And anyone who thinks that an Evo or an STi is good looking needs to have their eyes checked!

"No. My Finnish is fine; I am from Finland. Do you have any water?"
