Maserati Quattroporte faster than the E60 M5?

I heard from a friend of mine, that the Maserati Quattroporte was faster than the M5 round a track... I think it was EVO who was doing the test.

    How can this be posisble?

    Quattroporte BMW M5
    HK 400 507
    Torque 451 520
    Weight 1860 1830

I would think the M5 would be faster.

It's superior to the Maserati in all categories.

The EVO figures for the lap on the West Circuit of the Bedford Autodrome:
    M5: 1.29.95
    QP: 1.28.35

Fastest lap: Caterham R500 Evo: 1.19.62

    other interesting times:
    F430: 1.24.20
    Gallardo: 1.23.9
    SL600: 1.29.95

i think the most impressive time round the track was by a standard 1.6 focus which is only 31% off the time of the caterham.
a true achievement for the ford

true. but its all about getting power down and distributing it well enough to put in a quick time.

could be, but maybe the balance of the car is not so good?

And probably its brake isn't up to the task of getting rid of the speed?

Or could it have something to do with the speed limiter in the M5?? I have no idea how cicuit looks like, but I guess that it cab reach over 250 on the long straight. But it has a speedlimiter...

    Funny man...

Well I guess the speedlimiter could well be a big hazard for the M5 on this track...

EVO also gives the top speeds reached on the track. The BMW reached 108.2 mile, the QP only 103.5. First this is well within the 250 kph limiter, and second it shows that handling of the QP must be much better than the M5 in order to compensate for this lack of topspeed.
