First party means you design/develop the PLATFORM as well as the application.

Has to be XBox 360 as it's the only one manufactured
The PS3 has a Sony-reputation to fight and that is of announcing huge technical innovation and leaps forward BUT hten failling to actually deliver it in a usable solution.
In 2-3 years time I think everyeon will be impressed with the range of games and capabiltiy the develoeprs squeeze out of it.
In the meantime however, XBox is out there.
Proven develompent environment and architecture, it's "only" a cheaper PC
IF Sony could produce a DirectX library ( or equivalent ) for it and get smart about enabling games developers to use the various engines in the cell processors then I think they would win outright !!!

On the flip side of that, Japan is STILL a huge market for consoles and the Xbox by any measure has flopped in it's Tokyo launch sales. So Sony may have a lifeline

so if it was your money what would be going for?
at the moment i'm leaning towards an Xbox and possibly a Revolution later, as i've never been a sony fan

Neither unless either one of them came up with a significantly BETTER game than available on the PC
Having just played Kong last night on mates sons XBox I have to say I was unimpressed Glitzy but just naff in controlling the "people". Lacking any advance in gameplay.
Call of Dute demo was good, but I'm not an FPS devotee - the occasional foray only - not easy to see that it was worth buying a console over.

It was announced today that Nintendo's code named console revolution will be called the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo say the pronouncatin is "we", as in a console for all. personally i think there out of their minds and it doesn't help their image but it won't change the gameplay so it doesn't matter that much. I'm sure it makes perfect sense to their marketing department but Wii only makes a little sense to me in that it represents the controller and that its a console for all but .....

.... they didn't think how it would sound.
for instance if your friend house, he would say "have you got your own wii controller or do you wanna use mine"

    I'll still buy one though

edit:still very much looking forward to e3 this year

Blimey, I thought this was somekind of joke when I first read it, but a quick search reveals that it's all true.

It's certainly a bold move to say the least. I thought that Revolution was a great name to be honest and I don't really understand the need to change it. Some have said that it's too close to XBox's "360" name, but I don't see it myself. The one thing that Nintendo needs is a very strong brand image to their new console as it's gonna be in direct competition with 2 well established console series' PlayStation and Xbox. I thought Revolution had the potential to be just that, but I'm not convinced by Wii at all.

Wii is just a stupid name. It lacks any sort of marketing impact. Revolution was a good name. Oh, and HL2 and the Halos are both awesome,n either is better than the other

Am I the only one who's brain automatically thinks "someone can't spell WWII" when I see Wii?

Lol i just read this thread over and its funny how people get worked up about consoles Bottom line is people buying XBOX 360
    A) have an XBOX.
    B) Like Halo and Forza. or
    C) got sucked in by the ad campaign.

    People getting PS3:
    A) have PS2
B)Like Socom, the GT series, Etc..
    C) Like the "specs"

    People getting Nintendo:
    A) Are hard core Nintendoers (lol)
    B) like mario, zelda etc..
    C) like the wacky controller
    D) are girls or grandpas, lol

so as you see people have different reasons for buying the diif consoles, the sad thing is people how swear by the ratings the games get and only buy games according to their ratings. Oh and Socom owns Halo even though there not competing games. Killzone pwns Halo too lol

    Both statements are incorrect.
