I've heard great things about the Cobalt SS - much faster and a bit cheaper than most of its direct competition, and apperently it's pretty reliable too. The Dodge SRT-4 is a bit faster in a straight line, but I've heard that the handling is much better in the Cobalt (SS).

I didn't know anything about the Cobalt SS until skimming this article. It's OK but personally I'd go for the WRX. For a tuner the Cobalt should be good as there aren't that many around.

Go for it. I love 'em. They look good, IMO, and they go well- it's plenty fast for everyday.

C&D Magazine said that the Dodge SRT/4 had terrible torquesteer, and would be a bitch to control in winter. The Cobalt was a great car for the money.

Go for that yummy ol' coupé

I own a used 2005 Cobalt SS. I don't know why they sold it back to the dealership, but it's a pretty cool car. You could call it an all around performer.

Your big on tuners and you like show cars. Sounds like a good car to start with. But are you going to show it stock, and if you aren't what are you looking to change.

Why would you choose a 197Hp Civic Si over this 205Bhp car?
I'm sure the 0-60 on the Cobalt SS is also better unless gas is your main priority.

For me, I took a brief test drive last year, and I walked away pretty impressed for a car marketed towards the teenagers. Though $20,000 seems to be the all-around minimum price these days for new cars, I'm sure a used one can be found cheaper in good condition.

The Si is overall, a better car. It has better cornering, fuel economy, AND reliability. But for the price of the SS, I'd just get an RSX.
