How do you stop the photos of the front of a car look bug-eyed?

Theres plenty of photos out there of the front of cars. However, Ive noticed some have a tendency to make the car look frog/bug-eyed, the headlights just dont look in proportion. Im no photography expert, but I just wondered why this was? Has it anything to do with how close you stand or applying zoom? Ive included some example to try and explain.

    These are all 'bug-eyed' Murcielagos....

Other cars that look a bit bug-eyed in certain photos....

(I included the 612 photo...but really that has nothing to do with angle/camera, it just looks that way!)

And the cars looking not so bug-eyed...

It probably has something to do with height of the photo taken too, when you're looking slightly down on the car, it looks better than exactly horizontal.....

well, if you are standing close to the front of the car, between the focal points of the lights, and slightly below the plane of the headlights, you will get this affect... back up, and raise the camera up a bit, and this shoudl go away

What seems to be the trend here is that all the 'bug eyed' shots have been taken at a lower angel than the others, they are also all close. With the camera at the level of the lights, it creats the illusion that they pertrude the surface greater than a more higher angled shot.

To elaborate on Jakg's response, the differences in perspective are due to differing focal length of lens being used in each shot. The first set of Murcs are with a wide-angle lens, the second set with a standard or telephoto. The distance between subject and camera has been adjusted to get the car to fit the frame and the perspective effect remains (deliberately presumably).

The lower and closer you get to the car the more amplified this effect becomes. The windshield gets smaller and the nose of the car predominates. If you use a fisheye lens the effect looks even more exaggerated.

Just walk backwards and then zoom in on the car. The change in perspective will make it look less distorted.
