i def reccomend the squire strat, thats a good guitar for not a lot of money. personally, i like the single coil sound as apposed to the humbuckers, but thats all personal taste. the epiphone les pauls arent bad either, but they will typically run you $400-600.

anyway, a good les paul costs at least £300
add another 0 on there and you have it

i would suggest an ibanez or like said a squire, with a 30 or more watt amp, that way you wont have to upgrade for a while, but no big deal if you quit guitar, get a good cable, if you amp doesnt have it, distortion, alot of picks, i lose them alot, um, a comfortable strap, you need to practice standing up too, electricity and thats all you need to rock out

they arent bad but they arent good either, i have played a few and a good squire is years better, but a gibson les paul, great tone although hard for me to play because of the small size paired with my mile long arms

Epiphone Les Pauls can be had for well less than that and they're very good guitars. (Just ask Sam who owns a Epiphone Black beauty - Albeit in bits now)

some people think only playing electric guitar is cool

but you can learn really good parts on the guitar without the amp as well, believe me

Well, I think it's much more impressive to make the classical sing. Whereas with an electric, you'll generally need backing to sound good, a classical can fill a room by itself.

    I love it.

I used to play electric and bass, but its been almost a year since I touched a guitar, hell, can't even remember mine own ones.

I was able to play Iron Man pretty good, and I really spent about 2 months learning to play part of Don't Fear The Reaper.
